When the Allied forces began liberating Jewish people from the many camps scattered across Europe the struggle was not over for the many survivors of the Holocaust. They would have to try and live their lives in a world that had changed so much as a consequence of the Holocaust as well as the Second World War. Many had lost entire families and communities so starting a new life was not going to be easy. Unfortunately many other survivors returned to their homes only to face even more hostility and Antisemitism. It is therefore very important during the study of the Holocaust to look at life after the Holocaust and the stories of many Jewish people that attempted to rebuild their lives. Below are a few videos developed by Yad Vashem, the official Holocaust memorial in Israel. Staff and students are encouraged to watch these videos either in class or on their own. More videos like these ones can be found on the Yad Vashem website.
