From the Religious Education Coordinator Term 1 Week 4

Next week the season o

f Lent begins with Ash Wednesday, which also marks the beginning of the annual Caritas Australia Project Compassion Appeal. Donations to Project Compassion allow Caritas Australia, the Catholic Agency for International Aid and Development, to work with local communities around the world to alleviate poverty, hunger, oppression and injustice.

We encourage you to put your compassion into action this Lent through your prayer, fasting and almsgiving by supporting Project Compassion. Our campaign to raise money will begin on Shrove Tuesday with the selling of pancakes so hopefully our College community will come to the canteen and support this worthwhile cause. After Ash Wednesday our Pastoral Care classes will each receive a box for donations each morning, and throughout the season of Lent there will be various whole school fundraising initiatives. Members of the GSCC community can also donate funds directly to Caritas and support their College House by visiting the Good Samaritan
